Vicarious Trauma

Vicarious Trauma is a specific, identifiable and manageable impact that the carers of trauma clients often experience. If left unmanaged this carer specific risk can inadvertently lead to compassion fatigue and reduced work health and safety compliance. This inevitably leads to staff, HR and structural risks to a carer organisation. The Australian Childhood Foundation provides Strategies for Managing Abuse Related Trauma through S.M.A.R.T.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed care is about learning how to better care for a child or young person who has experienced trauma. Trauma can occur when children or young people have experienced a fire, flood, death, family separations, illness or abuse/neglect.
